Our visit there was at the behest of my oldest granddaughter, caught up in the craze for then-new artist Taylor Swi
ft (before she abandoned country for pop and my granddaughter’s tastes moved on, too) and she held only a tiny corner exhibit.
I didn’t expect all I learned about the history of music in this country, much less Webb Pierce’s convertible (steer horn hood ornament, silver dollars embedded in tooled leather console, pistols for door handles and all), Elvis’s limo with wet bar (which resembled nothing so much as an old Samsonite suitcase!) and Carrie Underwood’s 20-foot train on her award show gown. Real blue suede shoes, Dottie West’s wow-factor fringed and jeweled outfit…the list goes on. We had a ball!
The bonus? The visit came in handy later as I had Bridger take Penny there on their red-hot road trip in TEXAS BLAZE.(Dang, but those two were so much fun to write!)
Have you ever been there or plan to go?
