But she is very worried about the orphanage and the kids still there. They have a small supply of coal but no idea if they’ll be able to get more, and this winter is set to be tough all over Europe, especially in Ukraine’s devastation. They’re very worried about keeping those children warm. She has a friend in Poland who will drive over any knitted goods like hats and scarves (which the children are wearing under all their clothes) so our sweet shop owner has put out a call for help.
So I’m knitting away, using all my scrap yarn, what I can get from friends and buying more…and here’s my progress so far. I’ve only been at it a little over a week, but my fingers are busy, and I know I’m not the only one!
Do you have information on how others can contribute knitted clothing to the Ukrainian orphanage?
I don’t, Patti, as this is an effort by one person who adopted her own kids from that orphanage and the owner of the yarn shop where she gets her yarn. Let me reach out to them, though, and see if they have any advice. Thank you for asking!
Patti, Shawnee (shop owner) said she would love to have more! They’re shipping them off Oct. 25, so whatever you have would need to be there before then:

I would be willing to help too if there is some place we can send items.
Thank you, Stephanie! They’re on a pretty tight timeline, but I have sent a message to ask about getting help from others. That’s very generous of you to offer!
